Description

Create a vibrant rainbow crystal tree using simple household materials. This engaging craft combines science, art, and creativity, perfect for all ages!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar (or Epsom salt for a different texture)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Pipe cleaners
  • A glass jar or container
  • A spoon for stirring
  • String (optional for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Create the tree shape by twisting several pipe cleaners together.
  2. Use string to hang your tree inside the jar, making sure it doesn’t touch the bottom.
  3. Heat 1 cup of water in a saucepan until gently boiling.
  4. Gradually stir in 1 cup of sugar (or Epsom salt) until dissolved.
  5. Add food coloring to the solution and swirl gently.
  6. Pour the hot sugar solution into the jar, covering the base of the tree.
  7. Place the jar in a cool, undisturbed location and watch the crystals grow over the days.
  8. Check daily to observe the crystal formation.

Notes

For best results, leave the solution undisturbed for 2-3 days. Try different salts or add glitter for variations!
