Description

Create stunning decorative Rainbow Crystal Geode Eggs through a fun and educational crafting experience.

Ingredients

  • Large plastic egg halves (two)
  • Epsom salt or Borax
  • Boiling water
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Wax paper or a tray
  • Optional: glitter for added sparkle

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a kettle or pot.
  2. Combine 1 cup of Epsom salt (or Borax) with 2 cups of hot water in a mixing bowl. Stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Divide the solution into separate bowls, one for each color you’d like to use.
  4. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and stir until you achieve your desired hue.
  5. Place wax paper or a tray on the surface to catch drips.
  6. Fill one half of the plastic egg with the colored solution until it’s nearly full.
  7. Close the egg carefully with the other half.
  8. Place the egg in a cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight.
  9. Allow the solution to sit undisturbed for at least 24 hours.
  10. Open the egg to reveal the formed crystals inside!

Notes

For best results, allow crystals to grow for 24-48 hours. Adult supervision is recommended due to boiling water.
