Ingredients

- 1/2 cup Borax
- 2 cups boiling water
- Various colored pipe cleaners
- Jar or glass container
- String (optional)
- Pencil or stick (for hanging)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Spoon (for stirring)
Instructions
- Prepare the pipe cleaners into tree-like forms or other desired shapes.
- Carefully boil 2 cups of water.
- Add 1/2 cup of Borax to the boiling water in a heat-resistant bowl and stir until fully dissolved.
- Add a few drops of food coloring to the solution if desired and stir.
- Attach the pipe cleaners to a pencil or stick, then place across the jar top allowing them to hang in the solution.
- Leave the setup uninterrupted for 6-12 hours (or overnight) to let the crystals form.
- Remove the creations gently from the jar and rinse with water to remove residue.
- Allow to dry completely before displaying.
