Description

A delightful DIY project that teaches about the water cycle while providing a fun, interactive experience.

Ingredients

  • A clear jar (like a mason jar)
  • Shaving cream (for the cloud)
  • Food coloring (blue, to represent rain)
  • Water
  • A dropper or spoon
  • A tray (to catch spills)

Instructions

  1. Fill the jar with water until it’s about three-quarters full.
  2. Carefully squirt a generous amount of shaving cream on top of the water to create your cloud.
  3. Using a dropper, pick up some food coloring and gently squeeze drops over the shaving cream.
  4. Watch as the food coloring seeps through the shaving cream, resembling rain falling from the cloud.
  5. Discuss the activity with kids, engaging their senses and imagination.

Notes

Swap out shaving cream for whipped cream or colored gel for varied textures. Use multiple colors for a vibrant effect. Experiment with different layers of density for additional fun.
