Description
A fun and engaging science activity that teaches kids about weather by creating a rain cloud in a jar using simple materials.
Ingredients
- A clear glass jar
- Shaving cream
- Food coloring (various colors)
- Water
- Droppers or pipettes
- A small plate or tray (optional, for easy cleanup)
Instructions
- Fill the clear glass jar about three-quarters full with water, leaving some space at the top for the cloud and food coloring.
- Take the shaving cream and gently spray a generous amount on top of the water in the jar, smoothing it out to create a fluffy cloud surface.
- Using a dropper or pipette, drop food coloring onto the shaving cream, starting with just a few drops.
- Observe as the colors seep through the shaving cream, resembling rain falling from the cloud.
Notes
You can experiment with different food coloring combinations, add essential oils for scent, or use smaller jars for mini versions. Clean up is easy with warm water.
