Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium-sized pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • Various colors of food coloring
  • Dish soap (optional, for more bubbles)
  • Tray or baking sheet
  • Small scoop or spoon
  • Knife (for carving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pumpkin: Clean the outside of the pumpkin and cut the top off to create a lid.
  2. Hollow Out the Pumpkin: Remove the seeds and pulp to ensure a clean interior.
  3. Mix the Volcano Ingredients: Place baking soda inside the hollow pumpkin, add dish soap if desired, and drip food coloring into the baking soda.
  4. Erupt the Volcano: Combine vinegar with additional food coloring in a separate container and pour into the pumpkin to watch it erupt.

Notes
