Description
Create stunning home decor with this pressed flower suncatcher craft, blending the beauty of nature and the creativity of stained glass art.
Ingredients
- Fresh flowers (e.g., pansies, lavender, daisies)
- A flower press or heavy books
- Clear resin or epoxy
- Suncatcher mold (silicone preferred)
- Crafting gloves
- Mixing stick and cup for resin
- Optional: decorative string or hanging hardware
Instructions
- Press Your Flowers: Gather fresh flowers and remove excess leaves. Place flowers between sheets of parchment paper. Use a flower press or heavy books to press the flowers for 1-2 weeks until fully dried.
- Prepare the Resin: Put on gloves to protect your hands. Follow the instructions on your resin kit to mix the resin and hardener in a cup. Stir carefully with a mixing stick until fully combined.
- Pour the First Layer: Pour a thin layer of resin into the suncatcher mold. Allow it to partially set as instructed on the resin packaging.
- Arrange the Flowers: Once the resin is tacky, arrange your pressed flowers on top of the first resin layer. Press them gently to ensure they adhere.
- Add Final Layers: Pour additional resin over the flowers to cover them completely. Use a stick to pop any air bubbles that might form.
- Cure the Suncatcher: Follow the curing instructions on the resin packaging, typically 24-48 hours. Once cured, carefully remove the suncatcher from the mold.
- Add Hanging Hardware: Attach decorative string or hardware to hang your suncatcher in a sunny spot.
Notes
Experiment with different flowers and resin colors for unique designs. Ensure flowers are flat but not brittle if using dried ones.
