Description

A delightful DIY project transforming discarded plastic bottles into adorable turtle crafts, promoting creativity and eco-friendliness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 empty plastic bottle (1-liter or 2-liter)
  • Green acrylic paint (or any color you prefer)
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Craft glue or a hot glue gun
  • Black marker or paint for detailing
  • Additional decorative items (stickers, felt, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Clean the Bottle: Rinse out the plastic bottle to remove any residue.
  2. Remove the Label: Peel off the label and clean any adhesive left behind.
  3. Cut the Bottle: Carefully cut the bottle in half to create the turtle’s shell.
  4. Shape the Legs and Head: From the bottom half, cut small pieces for the legs—four are ideal. For the head, cut a smaller piece.
  5. Paint the Shell: Apply a coat of green acrylic paint to the outer side of the bottle cap and half. Allow it to dry thoroughly.
  6. Add Details: Use the black marker or paint to add features like a mouth and spots on the shell.
  7. Glue on Googly Eyes: Attach googly eyes to the head for a fun face.
  8. Attach Legs and Head: Use glue to attach the legs to the base and the head to the top.
  9. Additional Decorations: Get creative! Use stickers or felt to embellish your turtle as you like.

Notes

Supervise children when using scissors, and experiment with different colors and sizes for unique turtles.
