Description

Create a stunning pink crystal tree using simple materials and enjoy a mix of art and science.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 cups of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of pink food coloring
  • A clean glass jar or container
  • String
  • A pencil or stick
  • Optional: Epsom salt for added texture

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Solution: In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Once clear, add pink food coloring and mix well.
  2. Set Up Your Workspace: Let the solution cool for a few minutes. Tie one end of the string to a pencil or stick and place it over the opening of the jar, letting the string hang down into the solution.
  3. Crystallization: Slowly pour the sugar solution into the jar until the string is submerged. Cover the jar loosely to prevent dust from settling, and place it in a cool, undisturbed location for 24-48 hours.
  4. Observe and Enjoy: Check your crystal tree after 24 hours for beautiful pink crystals. Leave it longer for larger crystals if desired.

Notes

For vibrant colors, increase the food coloring. Use different sugars for varied textures. Experiment with multiple colors for a mini crystal garden.
