Description

Whimsical treats that combine the nostalgic sweetness of cotton candy with the crunch of a caramel apple, perfect for parties and fun gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium-size apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring in pastel shades (pink, blue, lavender)
  • 1 cup cotton candy (store-bought or homemade)
  • Wooden sticks or skewers
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

Instructions

  1. Wash and Dry: Rinse the apples thoroughly under cold water and pat dry completely.
  2. Insert Sticks: Push a wooden stick into the top of each apple, making sure it is secure.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  4. Heat: Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  5. Boil: Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (approximately 300°F or 150°C).
  6. Flavor It: Once at temperature, remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Separate Mixture: Divide the candy mixture into separate bowls for each color.
  8. Add Coloring: Add a few drops of gel food coloring to each bowl and stir until you achieve a uniform color.
  9. Dip Each Apple: Holding the stick, dip an apple into the colored candy mixture, ensuring an even coat.
  10. Let It Drip: Allow any excess candy to drip off back into the bowl.
  11. Cool on Parchment: Place the coated apple onto parchment paper or a silicone mat to cool and set.
  12. Add Cotton Candy: Once cooled, gently press cotton candy onto the top of each apple for a magical finish.
