Instructions
- Wash and Dry: Rinse the apples thoroughly under cold water and pat dry completely.
- Insert Sticks: Push a wooden stick into the top of each apple, making sure it is secure.
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, mix granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Heat: Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Boil: Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (approximately 300°F or 150°C).
- Flavor It: Once at temperature, remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Separate Mixture: Divide the candy mixture into separate bowls for each color.
- Add Coloring: Add a few drops of gel food coloring to each bowl and stir until you achieve a uniform color.
- Dip Each Apple: Holding the stick, dip an apple into the colored candy mixture, ensuring an even coat.
- Let It Drip: Allow any excess candy to drip off back into the bowl.
- Cool on Parchment: Place the coated apple onto parchment paper or a silicone mat to cool and set.
- Add Cotton Candy: Once cooled, gently press cotton candy onto the top of each apple for a magical finish.
