Description

Create vibrant orange crystal hearts that brighten any room and make perfect gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • Food coloring (orange)
  • Heart-shaped silicone mold
  • Cooking spray (for mold)
  • Stove and saucepan
  • Wooden stir stick

Instructions

  1. Lightly coat the heart-shaped silicone mold with cooking spray for easy removal later.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 3 cups of sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring gently until the sugar completely dissolves.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup of corn syrup and add several drops of orange food coloring, mixing until you achieve your desired hue.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool for about 5 minutes.
  5. Carefully pour the sugar mixture into the prepared silicone heart mold, filling each cavity.
  6. Allow the hearts to sit undisturbed for at least 24 hours, until they are completely hardened.
  7. Once fully set, gently remove the crystal hearts from the silicone mold.

Notes

For a scented twist, add essential oil. Store in an airtight container away from moisture.
