Description
Create a delightful and eco-friendly apple bird feeder that attracts various bird species to your garden.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 apple (any variety)
- 2 tablespoons of peanut butter (or sun butter for nut-free option)
- Birdseed mix (store-bought or homemade)
- String or twine (for hanging)
- Knife (for adults to use)
- Paper plate (for mixing)
Instructions
- Carefully slice the apple in half, exposing its core and seeds. If desired, scoop out some of the flesh to create a small indentation for the birdseed.
- Use a knife to spread a generous layer of peanut butter over the surface of the apple halves. Ensure that all areas are coated thickly to help the birdseed adhere.
- Pour the birdseed onto a paper plate. Gently press the peanut butter-covered apple halves into the birdseed, ensuring they’re well-coated.
- Use the string or twine to create a loop around the core of the apple. Tie a secure knot, ensuring the apple can be hung easily.
- Choose a spot outdoors that’s visible from a window but away from predators. Hang your apple feeder from a tree branch or hook.
Notes
Experiment with different fruits and decorations for seasonal variations.
