Description

A fun and educational craft that demonstrates chemical reactions through a thrilling mini volcano eruption.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small container (like a plastic cup)
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • Food coloring (your choice of color)
  • Dish soap (optional, for added foam)
  • Tray or baking sheet (to catch overflow)
  • Spoon for mixing

Instructions

  1. Select Your Base: Choose a stable surface and place your small container on the tray or baking sheet.
  2. Add Baking Soda: Spoon the baking soda into the container. This is your ‘lava’ ingredient!
  3. Mix in Dish Soap: If using, add a squirt of dish soap to the baking soda for extra foamy effect.
  4. Color it Up: Add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda mixture to achieve your desired eruption color.
  5. Pour in the Vinegar: Slowly pour the vinegar into the container and step back to watch the magic happen!
  6. Observe the Reaction: Enjoy the fizzing, bubbling eruptive power as the mixture overflows.

Notes

You can use different containers, substitute vinegar with lemon juice, and add glitter for more fun.
