Description

Create your own scented candles with customizable scents for a cozy ambiance and unique gifts.

Ingredients

  • Soy candle wax
  • Candle wicks
  • Fragrance oils (your choice of scent)
  • Candle dye (optional)
  • Heat-resistant container (like glass jars)
  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • Thermometer
  • Stirring utensil (like a wooden stick)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Area: Ensure your workspace is clean and free of clutter. Cover surfaces with newspaper to catch spills.
  2. Measure Wax: Using the thermometer and heat-resistant container, measure the amount of soy wax based on the desired candle size. Generally, 1 pound of wax equals approximately 16 ounces of candle.
  3. Melt the Wax: Using a Double Boiler: Fill the bottom pot with water and bring it to a simmer. Place the wax in the top pot until fully melted. Microwave Option: Heat wax in bursts of 30 seconds, checking in between until melted.
  4. Add Fragrance and Dye: Once the wax is melted, remove it from heat. Let it cool slightly and add your chosen fragrance oil and candle dye. Stir thoroughly to combine.
  5. Secure the Wick: While the wax cools, use a bit of melted wax to secure the wick in the center of your container. Hold it in place until it sets.
  6. Pour the Wax: When the wax is about 140-150°F, pour it into the container, leaving some space at the top. Center the wick as you pour.
  7. Cool and Trim: Allow the candle to cool completely, which may take several hours. Once set, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch above the wax surface.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different fragrance oils and container types for a personal touch. Use old candles to create new unique ones.
