Description

Delicious and visually stunning marbled candy apples, perfect for parties or a fun kitchen project.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (any variety)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (variety of colors)
  • Sticks or skewers
  • Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Candy thermometer

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and remove any wax coating. Pat them dry and insert a stick or skewer into the top of each apple for easy handling.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Attach the candy thermometer and bring the mixture to a boil. Don’t stir once it starts boiling—let it reach 260°F (hard ball stage).
  4. Once the candy reaches the desired temperature, remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Divide the mix into separate bowls, then add different food coloring to each bowl to create your marbled effect.
  6. Dip each apple into one color of candy coating to cover the apple completely. Let excess drip back into the bowl.
  7. For the marbled effect, quickly dip the coated apple into a second color before the first layer sets.
  8. Place the dipped apples onto the prepared baking sheet and let them cool completely.

Notes

Store candy apples in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Best enjoyed fresh but can be made a day in advance.
