Description

Create your own charming Valentine lava lamp using simple household items. This fun and engaging project is perfect for all ages and adds a whimsical touch to any setting.

Ingredients

  • Clear plastic bottle or glass jar with a lid
  • Water
  • Vegetable oil (or baby oil)
  • Food coloring (preferably red or pink)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets or baking soda and vinegar
  • Plastic funnel (optional)
  • Glitter or small heart confetti (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your bottle by cleaning and drying it thoroughly.
  2. Fill the bottle about 1/4 full with water using a funnel if needed.
  3. Slowly pour vegetable oil over the water until the bottle is nearly full, leaving some space at the top.
  4. Add 10-15 drops of food coloring into the bottle.
  5. Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into quarters and drop one piece into the bottle to activate the lava effect.
  6. For an optional enhancement, sprinkle glitter or confetti into the bottle and seal it tightly.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and swap ingredients for variations. Supervise younger children when handling food coloring and fizzy tablets.
