Description

Create vibrant, fizzy colorful hearts at home while exploring science and creativity with a hands-on approach.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Citric acid
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Vinegar (for activation)
  • Silicone heart molds
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Storage container (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of citric acid. Stir the mixture thoroughly until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into separate bowls based on how many colors you want to create. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until the colors are evenly distributed.
  3. Pack the colored mixtures tightly into silicone heart molds and press gently to ensure they hold their shape.
  4. Let the hearts dry overnight in a cool area. They should be hard to the touch once fully dried.
  5. When ready to enjoy your fizzy hearts, place one in a bowl and pour vinegar over it to watch the exciting fizzing reaction unfold.

Notes

Customize shapes, add scents with essential oils, experiment with layers and flavored vinegars for extra fun.
