Create vibrant crayon star sun catchers that brighten up your space while recycling old crayons. A fun and eco-friendly DIY project for all ages.
Ingredients
- Old crayons (broken or whole)
- Silicone star-shaped molds
- Oven or toaster oven
- Baking tray
- Parchment paper (optional)
- Paper towels or cleaning cloth
- Window or glass surface to hang sun catchers
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
- Remove wrappers from crayons and break them into 1-inch sections.
- Arrange crayon pieces in silicone molds and mix colors for fun effects.
- Place the filled molds on a baking tray and carefully place them in the oven.
- Melt the crayons for about 10-15 minutes while keeping an eye on them.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer the molds to the freezer for about 30 minutes to harden completely.
- Flex the molds gently to release the star-shaped sun catchers.
- Clean the window surface and use double-sided tape or suction cups to secure the sun catchers.
Notes
Experiment with different color combinations and shapes. You can add glitter for extra sparkle or package them as handmade gifts.
