Description

A delightful and engaging craft project for creating a unique Christmas tree using baking soda. Perfect for families and anyone looking to add a personal touch to holiday decor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 3 cups cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie cutter (tree shape)
  • Optional: Acrylic paints or glitter for decoration

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Watch it fizz!
  2. Stir until the fizzing stops.
  3. Gradually mix in 3 cups of cornstarch.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of water slowly, mixing thoroughly until you achieve a dough-like consistency.
  5. Take portions of the dough and shape them into a cone to resemble a tree.
  6. Use your hands to mold and smooth the surface.
  7. Use a cookie cutter to cut out smaller decorations or stars from additional dough.
  8. Press these onto your tree for added detail.
  9. Place your tree on a sheet of parchment paper and let it air dry for 24 to 48 hours, or until hard.
  10. Once dry, paint and embellish your tree with glitter or any additional decorations.

Notes

Consider using essential oils to scent your dough. You may also create a themed display with multiple colored trees.
