A fun and simple craft to celebrate autumn and Thanksgiving by creating a charming turkey using natural materials.
Ingredients
- Assorted colorful leaves (red, yellow, green, orange)
- Construction paper (brown for the body)
- Scissors
- Glue or glue sticks
- Googly eyes (optional)
- Twigs (for legs)
- Markers or crayons
- A small piece of paper for the beak (orange or yellow)
Instructions
- Collect natural materials by going on a nature walk and gathering a variety of leaves with different shapes and colors.
- Cut the brown construction paper into an oval shape for the turkey’s body and a smaller oval for the head, as well as a triangle for the beak.
- Start gluing leaves onto the body, layering them to create a full tail. Allow time for the glue to set.
- If using, glue on the googly eyes and attach the beak below the eyes.
- Push twigs into the bottom of the turkey’s body or glue them on for legs.
- Use markers or crayons to enhance details, adding features like feet or feathers.
Notes
Experiment with different leaf types and incorporate other materials like pom-poms for a playful twist.
