Description

A fun and simple craft to celebrate autumn and Thanksgiving by creating a charming turkey using natural materials.

Ingredients

  • Assorted colorful leaves (red, yellow, green, orange)
  • Construction paper (brown for the body)
  • Scissors
  • Glue or glue sticks
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Twigs (for legs)
  • Markers or crayons
  • A small piece of paper for the beak (orange or yellow)

Instructions

  1. Collect natural materials by going on a nature walk and gathering a variety of leaves with different shapes and colors.
  2. Cut the brown construction paper into an oval shape for the turkey’s body and a smaller oval for the head, as well as a triangle for the beak.
  3. Start gluing leaves onto the body, layering them to create a full tail. Allow time for the glue to set.
  4. If using, glue on the googly eyes and attach the beak below the eyes.
  5. Push twigs into the bottom of the turkey’s body or glue them on for legs.
  6. Use markers or crayons to enhance details, adding features like feet or feathers.

Notes

Experiment with different leaf types and incorporate other materials like pom-poms for a playful twist.
