Description

Create your own mesmerizing lava lamp at home with this simple and fun DIY experiment that combines science and art.


Ingredients

  • Clear plastic bottle or glass jar
  • Water
  • Vegetable oil (or mineral oil)
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Alka-Seltzer tablets (or baking soda and vinegar)
  • A small funnel (optional)
  • LED tea light (for safe lighting)

Instructions

  1. Fill your container about one-quarter full with water.
  2. Gently fill the rest with vegetable oil, leaving a little space at the top.
  3. Add 8-10 drops of food coloring to the water.
  4. Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into quarters and drop one piece into the mixture.
  5. Place an LED tea light underneath the container to light it up and enjoy the glow.
