- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 packet Kool-Aid (any flavor)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prepare your work area by spraying your surface and any tools with non-stick cooking spray.
- Combine 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of butter in a large saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat while stirring until the mixture boils.
- Check the temperature by attaching the candy thermometer to the side of the pan and letting the mixture boil until it reaches 260°F (hard ball stage).
- Flavor it up by removing the saucepan from heat and quickly stirring in the Kool-Aid powder and vanilla extract.
- Cool the mixture on your prepared surface and allow it to cool slightly before handling.
- Pull and stretch the taffy until it becomes light and fluffy—usually around 10 minutes.
- Shape the taffy into a log or cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper for storage.
