Description

A delightful, chewy candy infused with vibrant Kool-Aid flavors, perfect for creative kitchen fun with family and friends.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 packet Kool-Aid (any flavor)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare your work area by spraying your surface and any tools with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Combine 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of butter in a large saucepan.
  3. Cook over medium heat while stirring until the mixture boils.
  4. Check the temperature by attaching the candy thermometer to the side of the pan and letting the mixture boil until it reaches 260°F (hard ball stage).
  5. Flavor it up by removing the saucepan from heat and quickly stirring in the Kool-Aid powder and vanilla extract.
  6. Cool the mixture on your prepared surface and allow it to cool slightly before handling.
  7. Pull and stretch the taffy until it becomes light and fluffy—usually around 10 minutes.
  8. Shape the taffy into a log or cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper for storage.

Notes

Customize flavors with different Kool-Aid options, and consider using a plant-based butter alternative for a vegan version.
