Description

A nostalgic, chewy taffy made with colorful Kool-Aid flavors that’s perfect for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 package (0.13 oz) Kool-Aid (any flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, butter, Kool-Aid, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely and the mixture is well combined.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil. Do not stir once boiling; allow it to boil for about 5-7 minutes or until it reaches the hard ball stage (250°F or 121°C on a candy thermometer).
  4. Remove from heat and let it sit for about 5 minutes to cool slightly. After it’s cool enough to handle, butter your hands and begin to pull and knead the taffy until it becomes smooth and shiny.
  5. Stretch and fold the taffy repeatedly for about 5-10 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency. Shape it into a log or cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Store in an airtight container or wrap pieces in wax paper.

Notes

Experiment with different Kool-Aid flavors for unique combinations and mix in nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture.
