Description

Create stunning, colorful sugar crystals while learning about the science of crystallization. This fun experiment is perfect for both kids and adults.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of water
  • Food coloring (various colors)
  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon for stirring
  • Heat-resistant glass jars or containers
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by gathering all materials and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and divide the sugar solution into multiple bowls. Add food coloring to each bowl.
  4. Carefully pour each colored sugar solution into prepared glass jars or containers. Allow to cool at room temperature.
  5. After an hour, crystals will start to form. Leave jars undisturbed for 24–48 hours for optimal crystal growth.
  6. Once ready, pour out any excess solution and let the sugar crystals dry on parchment paper.
