Description
Create stunning icy Borax crystal snowflakes, perfect for winter-themed decorations and educational fun.
Ingredients
- Borax powder
- Water
- Clear jar or cup (mason jars work well)
- String or pipe cleaner (for snowflake structure)
- Pencil or stick (to suspend the snowflakes)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Pot for boiling water
Instructions
- Create your snowflake shape using a pipe cleaner.
- Boil about 2 cups of water in a pot.
- Add 3 tablespoons of Borax for every cup of water to the boiling water and stir until fully dissolved.
- Optionally, mix in a few drops of food coloring.
- Tie the snowflake shape to a pencil or stick and lay it across the top of the jar, allowing it to hang down into the solution.
- Let the jar sit undisturbed in a cool area overnight for crystals to form.
- After 6-12 hours, carefully remove the snowflake and let it dry completely before displaying.
Notes
You can add glitter for extra sparkle or experiment with different colors and shapes.
