Description

Create beautiful ice luminaries that add a magical glow to your winter gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Clean plastic containers (e.g., milk jugs or bowls)
  • Water
  • Natural elements (e.g., leaves, berries, or flowers)
  • Candle or LED tea light
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • String or twine (for hanging, if desired)

Instructions

  1. Choose your plastic containers; mix and match sizes for varying effects. Rinse and clean them to ensure clarity when frozen.
  2. Fill the containers with water, leaving some space at the top. Add your chosen natural elements to the water. Optionally, add a few drops of food coloring for a colorful twist.
  3. Place your containers in the freezer. For best results, freeze overnight. Use smaller containers to prop them in the water if you want to create a hollow center for a candle.
  4. Once frozen solid, remove the containers from the freezer. Allow them to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before gently removing the plastic to avoid breakage.
  5. Carefully place a candle or LED tea light inside the hollowed-out ice and enjoy the glowing effect!

Notes

Experiment with different container shapes and themes to make your luminaries unique.
