Description

Fluffy and tender Southern biscuits, perfect for any meal or family gathering, bringing warmth and tradition to your table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • ¾ cup whole milk (or buttermilk for tang)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk (and honey, if using). Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently a few times, then pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds, re-rolling scraps as needed.
  6. Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  7. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Slather with butter or your favorite preserves!

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute with a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
