Ingredients
- Borax (1/2 cup)
- Water (2 cups)
- Pipe cleaners (any color)
- String or fishing line
- Scissors
- Jar or container (glass or plastic)
- Optional: Food coloring (for added color)
Instructions
- Shape the pipe cleaners into a star. Use multiple pipe cleaners for intricate designs.
- In a saucepan, heat 2 cups of water until boiling. Gradually add 1/2 cup of Borax, stirring until dissolved.
- Pour the Borax solution into a jar and attach the string to your star, suspending it in the solution.
- Leave the jar undisturbed for 6-12 hours for crystals to form.
- Carefully remove your star, rinse with water, and allow it to dry.
- Once dry, display your crystal star in a sunny window or as decoration.
Notes
Experiment with colors and designs using food coloring or different materials. Store finished stars in a dry, cool place.
