- 3 cups of boiling water

Instructions
- Boil 3 cups of water in a pot.
- While waiting for the water to boil, tie a piece of string to a pencil or stick.
- Once the water is boiling, carefully add 1 cup of borax and stir until fully dissolved.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and stir well.
- Lower the string into the jar, submerging it in the solution.
- Leave the jar undisturbed at room temperature.
- Check back in a few hours; crystals should start forming, and for larger crystals, leave for up to a few days.
