Ingredients
- Borax powder
- Water
- Glass jar or bowl
- Pipe cleaners (in desired shapes)
- Food coloring (optional)
- String (if desired for hanging)
- Spoon
- Heat source (stove or kettle)
Instructions
- Heat about 2 cups of water in a kettle or pan until it reaches a boil.
- In the glass jar or bowl, add 3 tablespoons of Borax powder.
- Pour the boiling water into the jar with the Borax, stirring well until it’s completely dissolved.
- Twist the pipe cleaners into your desired shapes (stars, hearts, or abstract designs).
- If using food coloring, add a few drops to your solution and stir.
- Attach the shaped pipe cleaners to a string and hang them in the jar, ensuring they don’t touch the sides or bottom.
- Allow the jar to sit undisturbed for at least 6 hours or overnight for the best results.
- Check back to see your beautiful crystal gems forming around your pipe cleaner shapes!
