Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons of Borax
  • A heat-resistant container (like a glass jar)
  • String or pipe cleaners (shaped as desired)
  • Food coloring (optional, for color customization)
  • Stirring utensil (like a spoon)
  • Heat source (stovetop or microwave)

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup of water.
  2. Pour the water into a heat-resistant container and heat until almost boiling.
  3. Remove from heat and add 3 tablespoons of Borax, stirring until dissolved.
  4. Shape string or pipe cleaners into desired forms.
  5. Tie one end of the string to a stick or pencil, suspending the shaped base in the solution.
  6. Submerge the shaped base in the Borax solution.
  7. Optional: add a few drops of food coloring and stir gently.
  8. Let the container sit undisturbed in a cool place for 6-12 hours.
  9. Observe crystal growth periodically.
