Ingredients
- Sodium acetate (1/2 cup)
- Distilled water (1 cup)
- Microwave-safe container
- Candy thermometer
- Ice bath (bowl filled with ice and water)
- Optional: food coloring or essential oils (for customization)
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe container, combine the sodium acetate with distilled water. Stir well until fully dissolved.
- Microwave the mixture for about 1-2 minutes or until it reaches around 200°F (93°C).
- Carefully remove the container and place it in an ice bath to cool without crystallizing. Monitor the temperature to drop to around 130°F (54°C).
- Once cool, gently tap or agitate the mixture to trigger crystallization.
- Observe as the liquid solidifies into crystalline shapes!
Notes
Consider adding food coloring for vibrant creations and essential oils for fragrance. Experiment with different molds for unique shapes.
