Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Grease a large baking sheet or marble surface with butter.
  2. Gather all materials and tools.
  3. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan and cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 250°F.
  5. Remove from heat, add vanilla extract and food coloring, and stir gently.
  6. Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes until safe to handle.
  7. Butter your hands and begin pulling the taffy until shiny and smooth.
  8. Shape into a long rope and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  9. Wrap each piece in parchment paper and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Experiment with different flavors and colors. Store taffy in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
