A delightful craft activity that combines creativity with science, creating a unique tactile experience for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of cornstarch
  • 1 cup of water
  • Optional: Food coloring
  • Optional: Scented oils (e.g., vanilla or lavender)
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoon for mixing

Instructions

  1. Measure 2 cups of cornstarch and pour it into your large mixing bowl.
  2. Measure 1 cup of water and set it aside.
  3. Slowly add the water to the cornstarch, starting with half to avoid splashing.
  4. Use a spoon to mix the ingredients, you’ll notice a thick paste forming.
  5. Gradually add in the remaining water, mixing continuously until well combined.
  6. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and a few drops of scented oils.
  7. Play with your quicksand, pressing hard to feel it become solid, then letting it flow for a liquid effect.

Notes

Store the quicksand in an airtight container for a few days. Always supervise young children during play.
