Description

Create your own delightful popping boba at home with this fun and customizable recipe, perfect for bubble tea and desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fruit juice (e.g., watermelon, mango, or grape)
  • 1 tablespoon sodium alginate
  • 1 tablespoon calcium lactate
  • 2 cups distilled water
  • Splash of syrup or sugar water (for storage)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Calcium Bath: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of distilled water with 1 tablespoon of calcium lactate. Stir until fully dissolved and set aside.
  2. Make the Juice Mixture: In another bowl, mix your chosen fruit juice with 1 teaspoon of sodium alginate. Blend until smooth.
  3. Create the Popping Boba: Using a dropper or syringe, slowly drip the juice mixture into the calcium bath to form small spheres.
  4. Allow to Set: Let the boba sit in the calcium bath for about 10-15 minutes. Strain and rinse with cold water.
  5. Store: Transfer the boba to a storage container with a splash of syrup or sugar water until ready to use.

Notes

Experiment with different fruit juices and adjust sweetness to your liking. Storing in syrup keeps the boba moist.
