Description
Easy-to-make, vibrant homemade play dough that encourages creativity and fine motor skills in children.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- Food coloring (optional)
- Mixing bowl
- Saucepan
- Spoon
- Airtight container (for storage)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, vegetable oil, and a few drops of food coloring (if desired). Stir well until combined.
- Gradually pour the dry ingredients into the saucepan, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Keep stirring as the mixture thickens, eventually forming a ball in the center of the pan.
- Once the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan, remove it from heat. Allow it to cool slightly, then knead it on a clean surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place your homemade play dough into an airtight container to keep it fresh. Store in a cool, dry place for up to several months.
Notes
Try mixing colors, adding scents, or incorporating glitter for extra fun! Store in an airtight container for freshness.
