Description

A simple and safe recipe for making homemade play dough that fosters creativity and sensory play in children.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (various colors)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir well to ensure there are no lumps.
  2. In a separate saucepan, combine the water and vegetable oil. Add your desired food coloring to the mixture and stir it in.
  3. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir continuously to avoid lumps forming.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture constantly until it thickens and forms a ball, usually about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Once removed from heat, allow the dough to cool slightly. Knead it with your hands to achieve a smooth and pliable texture.
  6. Place the play dough in an airtight container. Store it in a cool, dry place for long-lasting fun.

Notes

Add essential oils for scent, mix colors for unique shades, or incorporate textures like glitter for sensory variety.
