Description

A fun and refreshing homemade strawberry boba drink perfect for warm days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water for boiling pearls
  • 2 cups milk or non-dairy alternative (for serving)
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Optional toppings (like whipped cream or additional fruit)

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries under cold water, then remove the stems and chop them into small pieces.
  2. Simmer the chopped strawberries and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it turns into syrup (about 10 minutes). Mash for a smoother texture.
  3. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to separate the solids from the liquid and set aside to cool.
  4. Boil 4 cups of water in a separate pot.
  5. Add the tapioca pearls to the boiling water and stir gently.
  6. Cook the pearls according to package instructions (typically 25-30 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  7. Drain the pearls and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  8. Mix the pearls with some of the strawberry syrup for added flavor.
  9. Layer the boba pearls in a glass, then add ice cubes (if desired) and pour in the milk.
  10. Add a drizzle of strawberry syrup for color and flavor.
  11. Stir gently to combine the flavors, then enjoy!

Notes

For a vegan option, use almond or oat milk. Store leftover boba in simple syrup for up to 24 hours.
