Description
A fun and refreshing homemade strawberry boba drink perfect for warm days and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh strawberries
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup tapioca pearls
- 4 cups water for boiling pearls
- 2 cups milk or non-dairy alternative (for serving)
- Ice cubes (optional)
- Optional toppings (like whipped cream or additional fruit)
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries under cold water, then remove the stems and chop them into small pieces.
- Simmer the chopped strawberries and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it turns into syrup (about 10 minutes). Mash for a smoother texture.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to separate the solids from the liquid and set aside to cool.
- Boil 4 cups of water in a separate pot.
- Add the tapioca pearls to the boiling water and stir gently.
- Cook the pearls according to package instructions (typically 25-30 minutes), stirring occasionally.
- Drain the pearls and rinse them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- Mix the pearls with some of the strawberry syrup for added flavor.
- Layer the boba pearls in a glass, then add ice cubes (if desired) and pour in the milk.
- Add a drizzle of strawberry syrup for color and flavor.
- Stir gently to combine the flavors, then enjoy!
Notes
For a vegan option, use almond or oat milk. Store leftover boba in simple syrup for up to 24 hours.
