Ingredients

- 2 cups of sugar
- 1/2 cup of corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons of powdered gum base
- 1 teaspoon of flavoring oil (e.g., peppermint, bubblegum, or fruit flavors)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Cornstarch (for dusting)
- A saucepan
- A mixing spoon
- Wax paper (for wrapping)
- A candy thermometer
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by cleaning it and gathering all materials. Lay out wax paper to place your gum on later.
- In a saucepan, mix 2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cup of corn syrup until combined and smooth.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously. Heat until it reaches 255°F (hard ball stage) using a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and gradually mix in 2 tablespoons of powdered gum base. Add flavoring oil and food coloring, stirring until smooth.
- Once cool enough to handle (around 120°F), dust hands with cornstarch and knead the mixture until pliable and elastic.
- Shape the gum into balls or sticks and wrap pieces in wax paper to keep fresh.
Notes
Experiment with different flavor oils and colors for customization. Wrap each piece in wax paper and store in an airtight container at room temperature.
