Description

A fun and customizable recipe for making bubble gum from scratch that allows for creativity in flavors and colors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup of gum base
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup of corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of flavoring (like mint, bubblegum, or fruit)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Cornstarch (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Place the gum base in a microwave-safe container.
  2. Microwave in 30-second intervals until it softens, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to overheat!
  3. Once softened, stir in the powdered sugar and corn syrup. Mix until you achieve a sticky dough-like consistency.
  4. Incorporate your chosen flavoring and add food coloring if desired. Knead with hands until well combined, adjusting with more powdered sugar if too sticky.
  5. Dust your work surface with cornstarch to prevent sticking. Roll the gum into a flat sheet with a rolling pin.
  6. Use a knife or cookie cutter to cut into desired shapes or strips.
  7. Allow the gum to rest at room temperature for about an hour before chewing.

Notes

For softer gum, add more corn syrup; for firmer gum, add more powdered sugar. Experiment with sweeteners like honey or agave syrup for a natural alternative.
