Description
A fun and customizable recipe for making bubble gum from scratch that allows for creativity in flavors and colors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup of gum base
- 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup of corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon of flavoring (like mint, bubblegum, or fruit)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Cornstarch (for dusting)
Instructions
- Place the gum base in a microwave-safe container.
- Microwave in 30-second intervals until it softens, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to overheat!
- Once softened, stir in the powdered sugar and corn syrup. Mix until you achieve a sticky dough-like consistency.
- Incorporate your chosen flavoring and add food coloring if desired. Knead with hands until well combined, adjusting with more powdered sugar if too sticky.
- Dust your work surface with cornstarch to prevent sticking. Roll the gum into a flat sheet with a rolling pin.
- Use a knife or cookie cutter to cut into desired shapes or strips.
- Allow the gum to rest at room temperature for about an hour before chewing.
Notes
For softer gum, add more corn syrup; for firmer gum, add more powdered sugar. Experiment with sweeteners like honey or agave syrup for a natural alternative.
