Create your own flavorful bubble gum at home with simple ingredients and customize it to your liking.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon gumbase
  • 1 teaspoon powdered food flavoring (your choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon citric acid (optional, for tartness)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Cornstarch (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by cleaning the surface and gathering materials. Dust the surface lightly with cornstarch.
  2. In a microwave-safe dish, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of corn syrup. Add 1 tablespoon of gumbase and mix well until somewhat homogeneous.
  3. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and bubbly (approximately 1-2 minutes).
  4. Remove from microwave, quickly add your chosen flavoring and food coloring (if using) and stir vigorously.
  5. Dust your hands with cornstarch and knead the warm gum until it reaches a smooth and elastic consistency.
  6. Roll the gum into a log and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Wrap each piece in wax paper or store them in an airtight container.

Notes

Consider swapping gumbase with pre-packaged bubble gum mixture if needed. Experiment with flavors and spices for unique twists!
