- 2 cups of baking soda
- 1 cup of corn starch
- 1 ¼ cups of water
- Food coloring (optional)
- Essential oils (optional, for scent)
- Cookie cutters (various holiday shapes)
- Rolling pin
- Baking sheet
- Wax paper or parchment paper
- String or ribbon for hanging

Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine baking soda, corn starch, and water.
- Stir the mixture over medium heat until it thickens into a dough-like consistency (about 4-5 minutes).
- Remove the dough from heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
- Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough on a clean surface until smooth and pliable.
- Divide the dough into sections if using multiple colors. Add food coloring and essential oils, kneading until blended.
- Roll out the dough to approximately ¼ inch thickness using a rolling pin.
- Use cookie cutters to create various shapes and make a small hole at the top of each shape for hanging.
- Place ornaments on a baking sheet lined with wax paper and air dry for 24-48 hours, or bake at a low temperature (175°F/80°C) for 1-2 hours until hard.
- Once completely dry, decorate with acrylic paint or glitter and allow to dry again.
Notes
