Description
Delicious bite-sized churro bites made in the air fryer, crispy on the outside and soft inside, coated in cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil spray, for misting
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water, butter, sugar, and salt to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Turn the heat to low, dump in the flour all at once, and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough pulls away from the sides and forms a smooth ball, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it sit for 3 to 4 minutes so it’s warm but not hot.
- Add the vanilla, then beat in the eggs one at a time until the dough is smooth, thick, and pipeable.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375 F (190 C) for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with oil.
- Place the dough in a piping bag or zip-top bag and pipe 1-inch mounds in the basket, leaving space between each.
- Lightly spray the tops of the dough with oil.
- Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and firm on the outside.
- Immediately toss hot bites in the cinnamon sugar mix.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 1 day. Reheat at 350 F for 2 to 3 minutes. For softer bites, toss in sugar immediately; for crisper, let them rest for 2 minutes before tossing.
