Description

A fun and engaging craft project that allows children and adults to create a beautiful handprint butterfly tree, promoting creativity and quality time.

Ingredients

  • Construction paper or cardstock (various colors)
  • Non-toxic washable paints
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick or craft glue
  • Markers or crayons (optional)
  • A paintbrush (optional)
  • Water cup for rinsing brushes

Instructions

  1. Choose a clean, flat surface to work on, ideally covered with newspaper or an old tablecloth for easy cleanup.
  2. Select 2-3 paint colors for the butterfly wings.
  3. Using a paintbrush or finger, apply paint to one hand’s palm and fingers.
  4. Press the painted hand onto paper, fingers pointing outward to create one side of the butterfly.
  5. Clean your hand and repeat with the other hand for the opposite wing.
  6. Draw the tree trunk on brown or gray construction paper.
  7. Cut out leaf shapes from green construction paper.
  8. Glue the tree trunk to the base of your paper, then glue the leaf shapes around the trunk.
  9. Add details to the butterflies with markers or crayons once dried.
  10. Enhance with background elements like a sun or flowers if desired.

Notes

Try different colors for butterflies or use embellishments like glitter for a sparkling effect.
