Ingredients
- Construction paper or cardstock (various colors)
- Non-toxic washable paints
- Scissors
- Glue stick or craft glue
- Markers or crayons (optional)
- A paintbrush (optional)
- Water cup for rinsing brushes
Instructions
- Choose a clean, flat surface to work on, ideally covered with newspaper or an old tablecloth for easy cleanup.
- Select 2-3 paint colors for the butterfly wings.
- Using a paintbrush or finger, apply paint to one hand’s palm and fingers.
- Press the painted hand onto paper, fingers pointing outward to create one side of the butterfly.
- Clean your hand and repeat with the other hand for the opposite wing.
- Draw the tree trunk on brown or gray construction paper.
- Cut out leaf shapes from green construction paper.
- Glue the tree trunk to the base of your paper, then glue the leaf shapes around the trunk.
- Add details to the butterflies with markers or crayons once dried.
- Enhance with background elements like a sun or flowers if desired.
