Description

Delicious and colorful homemade gumdrops to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fruit juice (e.g., cranberry, grape, lemon)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons gelatin
  • Cornstarch (for dusting)
  • Food coloring (red, blue, and white)
  • Star-shaped or other festive molds
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Spoon

Instructions

  1. Lightly dust your molds with cornstarch to prevent sticking.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the fruit juice and sprinkle the gelatin over it. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it blooms.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and whisk the mixture until the gelatin dissolves completely.
  4. Stir in the granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Separate the mixture into three bowls: add red food coloring to one bowl, blue to another, and leave the third white.
  5. Carefully pour each colored mixture into the prepared molds.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours or until the gumdrops are firm.
  7. Gently pop the gumdrops out of the molds and dust them with cornstarch to prevent sticking.

Notes

You can experiment with different fruit juices and natural colorings for healthier options.
