Ingredients
- Borax laundry detergent
- Water
- Glass jars (Mason jars)
- Pipe cleaners (various colors)
- String
- Pencil
- Food coloring (optional)
- Scissors
- Stirring stick (like a spoon)
- Optional: glitter for added sparkle
Instructions
- Bend pipe cleaners into desired shapes, like trees or snowflakes, and tie a piece of string for hanging.
- Boil 2 cups of water, remove from heat, add 6 tablespoons of Borax, stirring until fully dissolved. Add food coloring for color if desired.
- Pour the solution into jars, filling halfway. Tie the string to a pencil and balance it on top of the jar so the pipe cleaner shape is submerged.
- Allow jars to sit in a cool, dry place for 24 hours to let crystals form.
- After 24 hours, carefully remove the shapes, rinse under water, and allow to dry completely before displaying.
Notes
Experiment with different pipe cleaner shapes and colors for unique designs. Add glitter for extra sparkle.
