Ingredients
- Water
- Borax (1/2 cup)
- Pipe cleaners (white or any color)
- String
- Pencil or stick (for hanging the snowflake)
- Boiling water
- A glass jar or bowl
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Create the snowflake shape by twisting several pipe cleaners together.
- Boil about 2 cups of water and stir in ½ cup of borax until dissolved.
- Add a few drops of food coloring into the solution, if desired.
- Tie a string around the center of the snowflake and hang it in the solution using a pencil.
- Allow the snowflake to sit undisturbed in the solution for 6-24 hours.
- Once finished, carefully remove the snowflake and let it dry completely.
Notes
Try using Epsom salt for different crystal shapes. Experiment with colors and shapes to personalize your snowflakes.
