Description

Craft enchanting crystal hearts that blend creativity with science, perfect for decorations or gifts.

Ingredients

  • Borax (sodium borate)
  • Water
  • Clear jar or glass
  • Pipe cleaners (heart-shaped)
  • String
  • Pencil or stick (to suspend heart)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Measuring cup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Heart Shape: Take two pipe cleaners and shape them into a heart. Twist the ends to secure the shape.
  2. Set Up the Suspension: Attach a string to the top of the heart. Use a pencil or stick to suspend the heart in the jar. Ensure it doesn’t touch the bottom.
  3. Create the Solution: Boil 1 cup of water. Slowly add 3 tablespoons of Borax, stirring continuously until it dissolves. Add food coloring if desired.
  4. Pour the Solution: Carefully pour the Borax solution into the jar until the heart is submerged.
  5. Let the Crystals Form: Place the jar in a stable location and let it sit overnight or for 24 hours.
  6. Reveal Your Creation: Gently remove the heart and rinse with cold water to remove excess Borax.
