Description

A delightful craft project that combines creativity, fun, and science by repurposing old crayons into colorful suncatchers.

Ingredients

  • Green crayons (or any color you choose)
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cookie cutter or stencil (in desired shape)
  • Oven mitts
  • Craft knife (for adult use)
  • String or ribbon (for hanging)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to a low temperature of around 200°F (93°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  3. Use a sharpener or a craft knife to shave the crayons into small pieces.
  4. Scatter the crayon shavings over the parchment in your desired pattern or shape.
  5. Use cookie cutters or stencils to create fun shapes, ensuring the shavings fill the cutter area.
  6. Carefully place the baking sheet in the oven and watch as the crayons melt for about 10-15 minutes.
  7. Once melted, remove from the oven using oven mitts and allow to cool until solidified (around 30 minutes).
  8. Carefully pop your suncatchers out of their shapes.
  9. Attach a string or ribbon for hanging in your window.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and shapes. Adding glitter or dried flowers can enhance your designs.
