Create your very own glowing, bouncy moon rocks using simple materials. This fun activity is suitable for all ages and provides a hands-on learning experience.

- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1/2 cup of corn starch
- 1/2 cup of white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of liquid food coloring (glow-in-the-dark if possible)
- 1 teaspoon of dish soap
- A mixing bowl
- A baking sheet
- Parchment paper
- Decorative glitter (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the workspace by laying down parchment paper on your baking sheet to keep things clean.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of corn starch. Gently stir to blend.
- Combine the wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of liquid food coloring.
- Combine the wet & dry: Slowly add the vinegar mixture into the dry ingredients while stirring continuously. You will see fizzing—this is the reaction!
- Add dish soap to make your moon rocks bouncy.
- Shape the moon rocks using your hands to form small balls of dough, about marble size.
- Dry the moon rocks for at least 24 hours until hard.
- Enjoy your glowing moon rocks by turning off the lights and watching them glow!
Notes
Experiment with different colors and consider adding essential oils for scented moon rocks. Use decorative glitter for added sparkle.
